Isaiah Thomas had one of the most amazing offensive seasons in NBA history when it came to his performances in the 4th quarter. He was the Boston Celtics offense and they were runner up in the Eastern Conference. They have now added an All-Star in Gordon Hayward and the Celtics again look poised to make a run at the Finals.
Daredevil is one of my favorite comic book heroes because his stories are so gritty and surprising. Daredevil is Matthew Murdock, a lawyer that was left blinded by an accident that took his vision, but gave him enhanced senses to the point that he can sense movement and know where people have been and what they ate for breakfast two days ago. He takes up the mantle of Daredevil in order to protect his city. He is reckless in his pursuit of this protection and gets himself in all kinds of situations where he is hurt badly.
Standing at 5'9, which may be a generous height listing, Isaiah Thomas seems to fear nothing on the basketball court in the same way that Daredevil fears nothing as he protects the city. Watching Isaiah Thomas play, you will quickly see that he hits the ground a lot because he attacks the rim despite his size. He is fearless and he has developed an amazing array of shots to combat his defenders height advantage. In the same way, Daredevil uses his environment and his other senses to level the playing field when he is taking on foes. Thomas is also not shy to get into the faces of anyone that he feels disrespects him or his teammates. He is usually the smallest guy on the court, but he makes the biggest impact on the game.
While Isaiah Thomas was so vital to the Celtics last year and was able to take 19 shots a game, those numbers might have to decline to make room for Gordon Hayward. Will Thomas be willing to sacrifice some of his game in order that Hayward can help the Celtics reach the next level? In one of my favorite Daredevil storylines, Matt Murdock takes over the ninja organization, the Hand. Shadowland is a great story arc because you see Matt Murdock refuse to listen to his fellow superheroes seeking to use this evil organization to help him in his efforts. You soon realize that something is really wrong with Matt Murdock and the other heroes have to step in to help him regain control of his mind. In the same way, Isaiah Thomas enjoyed an entire season as the man in Boston and there is a chance that might not be the case next year. Can Thomas accept any role that he is given for the good of the team or will he seek to take control and cause issues within the team?
Isaiah Thomas, the 5'9 point guard with no fear, will continue to lead the Celtics next season. He will continue to amaze people who wonder how a man so small can it look so easy in the land of the giants. He has no superpowers like Daredevil, but he is just as amazing to watch on the basketball court.
