1. Hey baby, I don't mean to brag...but I'm the greatest!
Our first quote takes place in the first few scenes of the movie and come from Sidney Deane himself while discussing how amazing he is after a huge block. This quote goes to Lebron James. In my mind, he has cemented himself as the greatest player to ever play, but I know that is up for debate. However, Lebron has no problem reminding people that he is the best and this season will be no different. This could be a very fun Lebron season because people are actually speculating that he will not be able to win without Kyrie. This is a chance for Lebron to add more to his legacy of losing an All-Star teammate and being able to make it to the Finals again with a new number two.
2. All I care about is getting out of the Vista View apartments, because there ain't no "vista", there ain't no "view", and there certainly ain't no vista of no view.
Our second quote goes to Sidney Deane's wife in the movie Rhonda. She utters this line to Gloria after Sidney steals money from Billy. This quote goes to Paul George. He wanted out of Indiana to go play for LA and instead he has to spend a season in Oklahoma City. It will be interesting to see if his impending free agency is brought up all season and how long it takes for Russell Westbrook to go off on a member of the media. The Thunder have a good team and can make some noise in the West, but if they lose George I am not sure if they are going to be any better than they were last season.
3. I'm in the zone!
Our third quote comes from Billy Hoyle as he and Sidney are playing through the 2 on 2 tournament. This quote goes to the Warriors. Never before has a team been so dominant and so loaded with shooters. Everyone expects them to win the championship and they show no signs of stepping back. They also went out and got more shooters to add to their bench. Say what you will about Nick Young, but Omri Casspi is a great shooter that has bounced around and I just cannot believe that he has never found a home on an NBA team. He is a career 37% three point shooter, but on the Warriors he is going to get open looks the likes of which he has never seen.
4. You can put a cat in an oven, but that don't make it a biscuit.
Our fourth quote is one of my favorites from Sidney Deane. This quote goes to the Sacramento Kings, who went out and got some veterans to add to their young talent, but they will continue to be at the bottom of the West. While Zach Randolph, Vince Carter, and George Hill will help bring the young guys along, the Kings are not going to make the playoffs.
5. Wait a minute. I didn't have to talk to you very long. I presented you with an option and you took it.
Our fifth quote comes at the end of the movie when Gloria has left Billy and Sidney tells him he should've listened to her. This quote goes to the Indiana Pacers. No one will ever know what happened with the trade they made for Paul George, but taking the option from Oklahoma City has hurt their franchise. The rumor is that the Cavaliers and Celtics were willing to give much more to get George, but Indiana took Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis. Barring one of these two turning into a superstar the Pacers are in trouble for years to come.
6. No, no, no, no...Billy Boy, this is Ghana. You, my friend, are shooting for The Sudan.
Our sixth quote comes from a supporting character in the movie, Zeke. Junior allows Billy to shoot a hook shot and when Billy lines up to shoot at the Ghana basket, Zeke comes to tell him that he is shooting towards the other side of the court. This quote goes to the rest of the NBA. The Golden State Warriors are The Sudan and they are looking very far away. The Rockets seem like the ones most likely to slay the dragon and I would say that the Thunder are dark horses. It feels like the Spurs hurt themselves this summer with some of the moves that they made, but they still have Kawhi Leonard and that might be enough to contend.
7. Go back to Sea World!!!!
Our final quote and my personal favorite from the movie come from my favorite character Robert. After beating Billy and Sidney, he screams this at them. This quote goes to the New York Knicks. They are just the worst. They are going to start the season with Upset Melo (Hoodie Melo's brother). They spent a lot of money on Tim Hardaway Jr. and the clock is ticking with Porzingis, who does not seem to like New York. This franchise is in a great deal of trouble unless they can find some good players, who actually want to play there.
