Diaw's game fits into any team in my opinion. He is comfortable with the ball and also playing off ball. He just knows what to do with the ball. He makes quick decisions and is a decent shooter, although he is coming off a terrible 3 point shooting season for the Jazz, making 20 of his 81 attempts. He can run pick and rolls as the ball handler or as the screener and he can post up a little as well. There is talk that Toronto is interested in him and that would be a huge pickup for them. They need more creativity on their offense and he would definitely bring that to them. He would fit in nicely in the Patrick Patterson spot in addition to being able to slide in nicely next to Ibaka or Valanciunas.
It will be interesting to see what Diaw does. I am not sure what kind of contract he is going to get on the open market aside from the minimum, but who knows there maybe a team that would offer him something more substantial. It is the difference in going to a contender or playing for a team that might not be great. That is one caveat with Diaw, he does not seem to do well playing on bad teams. Before becoming a key member of some great San Antonio teams he was on a dreadful Charlotte Bobcats team that gave him up for nothing because they had had enough of the Boris Diaw experience. I still think he has a lot to offer to a team. He has the old man game down. He won't do anything to hurt the team, but he is not going to win it for you on his own, he is as good as the guys around him. Here's hoping one of my favorites ends up on a team that can take advantage of his unique talents.
